Crown Girls: A Story of Self-Worth and Music
Written and Illustrated by Luz Qi
Inspiration: Everyday Moments With My Daughters
Crown Girls began with the simple, everyday moments shared with my two daughters. Observing their unique personalities inspired reflections on the meaning of self-worth and how every child expresses it differently.
My Creative Journey
As both a creator and a mother, I draw from my cross-cultural background to tell stories that resonate across experiences. I wanted to use both words and music to help children understand and embrace themselves. Watching my daughters—one lively and expressive, the other quiet and observant—reminded me that there are many ways to be yourself, and each is valuable.
Meet the Characters
Beth
Beth loves to sing and paint, turning ordinary moments into something special. She is a little shy but cares deeply about others. Her dream is to have a puppy, but for now, she treasures her goldfish, Spot.
Vicki
Vicki is thoughtful and curious, always noticing details others might miss. She feels emotions deeply and is easily moved by small things. Her reactions—whether tears or laughter—are always genuine.
Core Message: Every Child’s Crown Is Within
The story teaches that self-worth does not depend on achievements, performance, or others’ approval. Every child is born with their own “crown,” and it cannot be taken away or compared.
Educational Value: Social-Emotional Learning
Crown Girls is more than a storybook. It serves as a starting point for parents and teachers to engage children in conversations about self-identity and emotions. The characters’ experiences connect naturally to social-emotional learning skills such as:
- Self-awareness
- Empathy
- Building healthy relationships
Looking Ahead
This story is just the beginning. Future plans include creating more books that explore different personalities, as well as expanding into music, animation, educational resources, and even toys or lifestyle products. The goal is to let the idea of self-worth accompany children as they grow.
Closing
Crown Girls is a letter to children everywhere: self-worth is not something to earn or wait for others to recognize. It has always been inside. This story and its music are meant to help children feel free to bethemselves and walk their own path with confidence.

A crown is not about what sits on the head. It is about what lives in the heart. And every child deserves to wear it proudly.
